Giclee is a French word meaning to spray. Our giclees are created by CPL Imaging of Duluth, Minnesota, through a slow and meticulous process beginning with an extremely high resolution scan of the original painting. This image is printed, or sprayed, on heavy archival paper (Somerset Velvet, 505 GSM, 36 mil) using pigmented inks. The resulting artists is then carefully scrutinized by the experts at CPL to ensure that it is an accurate reproduction in every way. After any necessary adjustments in color, density or contrast have been made, the final giclee is printed. It has the look and feel of the original painting and will maintain its rich color and detail for many generations.
